TRANSFORMATION FORUMis a Community Based / Nonprofit making organization formed in Feb.2009
and duly registered WCBO/413/10
The
organization currently operates in WAKISO District (the largest District in
Uganda).
This idea
was initiated by one person with long experience in working with the grass root
people who through tireless efforts had enduringly introduced the idea to as
many people as he could.
However,
several people expressed interest to take part in this organization, most of
them ended up pulling out for lack of resources to be injected into this
promising initiative.
The main
target for CTF is to inform the public how dangerous Global Warming is to our
beautiful Earth.
However,
Community Transformation Forum teamed up with 102.5 UNESCONabweru FM (Tiger FM) a community based radio
station to sensitize the public about global warming and climate change.
Tiger FM as
locally called covers a radius of 52sq. km. It has a registered total number of
over 3800 fun club members. Each area where this radio covers has local funs
club branches which elect their leaders but are under the main funs club body.
Through the funs clubs we shall mobilize other local citizens, leaders and the
clergy to disseminate information about this noble campaign against global
warming and climate change code named “LET’S GO GREEN” Plant a Tree.
We started
holding environment protection talk shows in Tiger FM since April 2009 every
Wednesday weekly.
For
the “LET’S GO GREEN” Plant a tree campaign to prosper, we intend to hold
monthly workshops every second Saturday of the month and later we shall begin
doing it twice a month and then on a weekly basis in various parts of the
country depending on the availability of funds.
How to conduct the Tree Planting
Exercise.
· Through the help of the
local authorities in the area of operation.
· By calling local
council meetings which involves residents of the area.
Through these village
meetings, we intend to distribute Tree seedlings for planting to the residents.
Earlier this year [2010], Nansana Town
council Authorities had taken an initiative to plant trees at the sides of all
roads in the area of the Town council but all the Trees that were Planted
weathered due to lack of care i.e. watering and creating protection
barriers around them and so, with CTF,care will be guaranteed.
We
intend to start the practical campaign on Saturday 8th January 2011
and expect our program to go on as follows:
-Saturday 12th February 2011 at
Nabweru Sub county headquarters
-Saturday 12th March2011
at Nansana Town council headquarters
-Saturday 9th April 2011 at Wakiso Town council headquarters.
We
plan to give away campaign T-shirts reading “LET’S GO GREEN” plant a Treeto community members.
Currently
we have no funds to kick off the campaign, therefore, we request you to be part
of the “LET’S GO GREEN” plant a Tree campaign.
